Description
This peptide is a spectrophotometric substrate for a chymotrypsin-like serine protease encoded by a hepatitis C virus (HCV) and is promising target antiviral therapeutic development. Due to the low catalytic efficiency of HCV?s serine protease, this continuous spectrophotometric substrate is a ideal for both kinetic analysis and high-throughput screening. It is hydrolyzed by HCV protease under second-order rate kinetics with a constant (kcat/Km) of 80,000 ? 10,000 M-1s-1.
