Description
Peptide that arises from the posttranslational cleavage of prosomatostatin, which in turn is derived from a large precursor, preprosomatostatin. It was found in the central and peripheral nervous system, the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It additionally increases amylase secretion, cellular cycle GMP, and Ca2+ outfluxes.
