A neuromedin U-related neuropeptide specifically expressed in the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) of the hypothalamus. rNMS is implicated in the regulation of circadian rhythms through autocrine and/or paracrine actions. rNMS showed potent anorexigenic effects and counteracted neuropeptide Y, ghrelin and agouti-related protein-induced food intake.
