Description
The GLP-1 fragment is isolated from the lower small intestine and is presently regarded to be the most important incretin hormone. It shows a strong insulinotropic effect that is mediated by receptors expressed in the pancreatic beta-cells. It is proposed to be a novel therapeutic strategy for non-insulin-dependent (type 2) diabetes mellitus and associated neuropathy.
